Fire protection is provided by the Mead 30 member volunteer fire department. The Rural Fire Protection District buys and maintains their own equipment, but it is operated by the Mead Volunteer Fire Department. We operate out of one station that protects Mead, Nebraska and surrounding areas.
Rescue services for injury, sickness, or any incident requiring immediate medical attention are provided by the Mead Volunteer Fire Department. A certified Emergency Medical Technician will be on the ambulance before leaving the station. Patients are typically transported to Saunders Medical Center in Wahoo or Lakeside Hospital in Omaha. Trauma patients must be taken to a hospital certified to handle such patients, typically Nebraska Medical Center or Bergan Mercy.
Whether you help through monetary donations, volunteering your time, or spreading our mission through word-of-mouth, thank you. We couldn't accomplish our goals without the help of supporters like you.
